The potentiometric dissolved oxygen electrode has a platinum wire as the cathode and an silver tube as the anode, with a chloride solution as the electrolyte. When a polarization voltage of 630 to 700 mV is applied between the two electrodes, oxygen passes through the membrane and is reduced at the cathode.
