What is a diaphragm metering pump?
The so-called diaphragm metering pump uses a specially designed and processed flexible diaphragm to replace the traditional piston. Under the action of the driving mechanism, it realizes reciprocating motion, thereby completing the process from suction to discharge. Due to the isolation effect of the diaphragm, the structure truly realizes the isolation between the measured fluid and the driving lubrication mechanism.
As a type of diaphragm metering pump, the electromagnetic drive metering pump generates pulsating driving force with an electromagnet, eliminating the need for a motor and a speed-changing mechanism, making the system compact and small. It is an important branch of small-range low-pressure metering pumps.
Among the members of the diaphragm metering pump family, the hydraulic drive diaphragm pump, by using hydraulic oil to uniformly drive the diaphragm, overcomes the drawback of overly concentrated force on the pump diaphragm under the direct mechanical drive method, thereby enhancing the diaphragm's lifespan and the upper limit of working pressure. The traditional single diaphragm metering pump is very likely to cause working failure due to diaphragm damage. To overcome and solve this problem, some metering pumps are equipped with diaphragm damage sensors to achieve automatic interlock protection when the diaphragm breaks. The metering with a double diaphragm structure pump head further enhances its safety and is suitable for applications where safety protection is particularly sensitive.
First, by taking advantage of the forward and backward movement of the diaphragm to cause changes between the diaphragm and the pump head, the ball valve moves up and down, creating a vacuum adsorption and pushing phenomenon to achieve the purpose of liquid transportation.
When the diaphragm is pulled backward, the outlet ball valve drops and fits tightly with the ball seat. The inlet ball valve rises due to the vacuum created between the diaphragm and the pump head when it is pulled backward, and the liquid is then sucked up.
When the diaphragm is pushed forward, the inlet ball valve and the ball seat are airtight, preventing the liquid from passing through. However, at the outlet, due to the diaphragm being pushed forward, the ball valve opens and the liquid is discharged.
From the above action principle, we can simply know that if any one of the factors such as the diaphragm, pump head, ball valve or ball seat causes air leakage, the conveying purpose cannot be achieved or the flow rate will be abnormal. The faults of the main life are usually composed of these four items:
1. The ball seat and the ball valve cannot be airtight.
2. Foreign objects blocking the inlet and outlet;
3. The diaphragm is damaged
Therefore, if the liquid transportation is abnormal, handling it in this way should be able to solve the problem. However, the factors causing the above situation are numerous and can only be determined based on the piping, accessories and operation conditions at that time.
